2010 Singapore Marathon
I ran the marathon on Sunday (5th Dec) and quit after completing 35 KMs in over 6 hrs. Although I am terribly disappointed that I could not muster the will power to complete the balance 7 KMs, I am glad that I pushed myself for the first 35 KMs.

11th week into the training plan
This is the 11th week since the day of ‘revelation’. Although I am happy I’ve made some progress in improving my fitness, I feel there was quite a bit of lost opportunity in the middle section of the 10 week period prior to this. I still struggle running beyond 6 KMs at a stretch. There are some highlights for sure. I pushed my running speed to 11.5 Kmph during this period,...
Ran 4.32 KMs in 26 minutes with a top speed of 11.5 KMs/hr. I intended to run at that speed for about 3 minutes but couldn’t sustain it and had to drop back to 11 Kmph after a minute or so. Overall a good week and the what I’m happy about is that I am recovering quite fast after the runs.
Weekly stats:
Distance: 19.69 KMs No. of runs: 5 Total time: 1:58:15 Average pace: 6:00 / KM
Ran at the gym for about 23 minutes covering 3.73 Kms. An increase from yesterday’s 3.61. I felt little bit weak on my right leg and I think it was probably because I didn’t stretch before the run. Much better now and hopefully a faster or longer run tomorrow.
Running in Bedok Reservoir
I joined a bunch of my colleagues to run around the Bedok Reservoir yesterday and it turned out to be an exciting one for me. I covered 4.3 KMs in 23 minutes and 10 seconds. This is my fastest ever for a distance above 3 KMs. Pretty psyched about it. I ran again this morning purely by the rush I felt after completing yesterday’s run. Morning run was not as fast as yesterday and I completed...

Ran 8.27 KMs in 55 mins and 40 seconds. Happy with the distance, not happy with the time. It was intended to be a slow run and once I get enough movement in my muscles, then shoot for a faster time!
Fear...
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain. - Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear
Ran 6 KMs in 37 minutes and 36 seconds. Happy with the outcome but need to increase pace and distance soon!

Completed a 6 KM run in 37 mins 28 secs. Quite happy with the pace. I think the fastest I’ve run a 6 KM distance.
9 Kms in 1 hr 7 mins. Happy with endurance… Not happy with pace…
6 KM run in 39 minutes… slowly building up endurance… but happy with the result.

Ah… it’s been a long time since I dropped by Tumblr… Looks like a lot has changed in the meantime… Time to give it another go…?

Open Source "cloud"
I have been watching Thomas Hawk on Friendfeed publish his pictures (same albums) in Flickr and Zooomr and it gives me an idea. Why not have an open source cloud storage for different media (like photos, videos) and provide the publicly shared media as a web service and let the different photo / media sharing site render them in their own way and let the people choose which service they like and...
Snippets of information
I was thinking how my reading habit has changed over the years. When I was very young, I was enamoured by comics especially Tintin, Asterix etc and would read them again and again without ever getting bored. As time went on, I started to read teenage story books like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. This then evolved into a little more serious suspense stories like Perry Mason and Agatha Christie...
Some painting!
A poor man walks up to a rich guy’s house. He’s down on his luck and needs some money. He rings the doorbell.
“Hi there! I’m down on my luck and need some money. I was wondering if you have any work I could do for you?”
The rich guy decides to give him a break, and says: “Sure, my porch needs painting. I’ll pay you 50 dollars to do it for me.”
“Sure thing, Mister, I’ll get started right...

Marathon training summary - 4 weeks after
If you have been reading regularly you probably know that I am training for a Marathon in December and my target is to do it under 5 hours. I know this is not a very ambitious target that requires a continuous blog post but nevertheless it is a big one for me.
I started training 4 weeks ago and out of that, 2 weeks have been pretty miserable with hardly any workout. But here are the stats:
